Software AG announced that T-Mobile International is
developing its IT-Governance methodology and tools in conjunction with Software
AG. One of the goals of this program is to accelerate the introduction of new
products and service plans using Software AG’s technologies for
service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process management (BPM). The
two companies are also developing a joint competency center to support their
planned multiyear, international collaboration. The competency center is tasked
with further development of T-Mobile’s SOA/BPM strategy and with moving the
company’s IT infrastructure forward using SOA/BPM process models.
Within the telecommunications industry, T-Mobile is
considered a trailblazer in service-oriented architecture. SOA and BPM are
particularly important to telecommunications providers, such as T-Mobile, due
to the competitive advantage that they provide in accelerating the
market-readiness of new products. The industry is also characterized by a high
degree of complexity and large amounts of data. For example, T-Mobile has
millions of customers in Germany
alone, as well as many different service plans and products, to which new
products are constantly being added.
T-Mobile’s goal in undertaking this joint development of its
SOA strategy is to launch new mobile communications products while increasing
efficiency and lowering costs. T-Mobile will be implementing webMethods BPMS,
Software AG’s full-feature process design, execution, monitoring and management
solution, in conjunction with T-Mobile’s existing global SOA platform. T-Mobile’s
own innovative tools for SOA governance will be migrated to a CentraSite-supported
solution, which allows T-Mobile to benefit from the strengths of the CentraSite
service governance and lifecycle management platform as well as its existing
tools and best practices.
An important component of the agreement is the creation of a
joint competency center. The center will bring together IT architects with
leading research and development employees from both companies to work closely
on the implementation of T-Mobile’s SOA/BPM strategy.
The agreement was concluded with T-Mobile International and
covers Germany as well as
the Netherlands, Austria, the United
Kingdom, and the Czech Republic.
CentraSite is a joint trademark of Fujitsu Limited and
Software AG in the United
States and other countries.
