SOA World Editorial: Defining Terms
It seems like not a day goes by lately in which some new story of malfeasance in office doesn't come out - whether it's lying under oath, using the services of a call girl, or spying on other officials in the government in order to further a personal agenda. Clearly, our elected officials don't have

TCS Provides Automated System Lock Down Tool for Oracle Enterprise Linux
Security Blanket Now Supports Oracle Enterprise Linux Versions 4 and 5; Trusted Computer Solutions Joins Oracle PartnerNetwork

Digg This!

Trusted Computer Solutions announced that it has become a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork and now offers organizations that have invested in Oracle Enterprise Linux versions 4 or 5 with Security Blanket 1.2, an automated system lock down and security management tool. Security Blanket enables systems administrators to configure and enhance the security level of their Linux operating platform by simplifying the current arduous methods for “hardening” systems that must be undertaken on a regular basis to meet security compliancy requirements.

Security Blanket is a menu-driven solution with an easy-to-use user interface that enables administrators to run predefined profiles that automate industry-standard best practices for hardening Linux. The profiles are based on security guidelines recommended by the Center for Internet Security (CIS), the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and select guidelines from the SANS Institute’s defined risks associated with Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP). Alternatively, users can customize profiles that support their own security policies. Once a profile is selected, the product quickly assesses the system and provides indicators to show the status of the system’s conformance to the security guidelines. The conformance indicators show Pass, Fail or Not Applicable. By clicking on any failed criteria, the user receives a detailed description of the failure, suggestions on modification and a choice to accept modification or ignore.

“Trusted Computer Solutions is a welcome addition to the Oracle PartnerNetwork, with Security Blanket now supporting Oracle Enterprise Linux,” said Monica Kumar, senior director of Linux and Open Source Product Marketing, Oracle. “With the Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program gaining strong traction in the enterprise, this unique tool offers a simplified means for hardening Oracle Enterprise Linux servers, and is another way to enhance an administrator's ability to maintain the data center while helping ensure a higher level of security.”

“Our participation in the Oracle PartnerNetwork is driven by customer demand and will not only enable us to strengthen our relationship with Oracle but will help ensure the best possible support for Oracle Unbreakable Linux Program users who have deployed Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 or 5,” said Ed Hammersla, chief operating officer, Trusted Computer Solutions. “This new working relationship demonstrates our commitment to the Oracle market and we look forward to a successful, long-term relationship that adds value to customers in need of improving their security posture.”
