Desktone, Inc., has announced that it will be a featured speaker at the SYS-CON's 5th International Virtualization Conference and Expo, being held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, March 30-April 1, 2009.
Desktone's senior director of strategic development, Jeff Fisher, will address attendees on April 1 at 3:45pm during his session, "Cloud-Hosted Desktops: The Smart, Low-Risk Way to Enter the Cloud." He will explore how consuming desktops as a service (DaaS) via the cloud enables enterprises to keep their data secure within their own infrastructure while reaping the cloud's cost and flexibility benefits. The topic of cloud-hosted desktops will also be discussed by Carl Kraenzel, Distinguished Engineering at IBM, in "Smarter Work with Desktop Clouds in the Mobile Enterprise" on March 31 at 2:20pm.
"For many people, enterprise cloud computing connotes a combination of server virtualization and hosting. However, there are considerable obstacles with this server-side approach, the most critical of which are the location and security of data," said Fisher. "Cloud-hosted desktops, on the other hand, are a low-risk/high-reward proposition. Not only are desktop workloads easier to move to the cloud, they don't require moving sensitive data. I'm pleased to be able to explore the concept of cloud-hosted desktops at this important Sys-Con conference, and discuss why it's a smart way for enterprises to enter to cloud."
Desktone is a pioneer in cloud-hosted desktops. Its Virtual-D Platform, which is uniquely designed along two tiers (enterprise and service provider), lets enterprises maintain ownership and control over their Windows OS images, applications and all relating licensing while outsourcing the physical data center infrastructure powering their virtual desktops to service provider partners, such as IBM. This dramatically reduces enterprise desktop TCO and transforms virtual desktop infrastructure costs from CAPEX to OPEX.
SYS-CON's Fifth International Virtualization Conference and Expo 2009 East is the leading virtualization event of the year, attracting key thought leaders in the field of infrastructure and pioneers of virtualization technologies. For more information, visit www.virtualizationconference.com.
