RightScale Follows Amazon EC2 to Europe

RightScale adds support for Amazon’s EC2 Europe cloud

In keeping with its multi-cloud manifesto, RightScale, the cloud manager, has added support for Amazon's weeks-old EC2 Europe cloud.

Amazon Web Services global and European Amazon EC2 customers can now access RightScale's automated cloud management platform to manage and scale cloud deployments as well as facilitate application migration and management back and forth between Amazon's US and EU clouds.

In December, Amazon gave European businesses the option of running their EC2 applications on a local cloud. It's a way to reduce latency and help with EU regulatory requirements on data storage and processing. It also gives global companies the opportunity for added redundancy and disaster recovery.

RightScale says its cloud management features, machine images and cloud-ready server templates are available for EC2 customers in the EU, and that migration from Amazon EC2 US only takes a few steps.

EC2 deployments spanning the US and Europe share a common user interface so customers can see and manage all servers across all regions in one place.

RightScale's Cloud Management Platform currently supports clouds from FlexiScale, GoGrid and the Eucalyptus Project. It is also working with Rackspace to assure compatibility with its cloud offerings, including Slicehost, Mosso and CloudFS.
