SYS-CON Events announced today that more than 40 Cloud technology providers, as well as Virtualization and SOA companies will exhibit at the upcoming 1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo (www.CloudComputingExpo.com), November 19-21, in San Jose, California. The conference will be colocated with SYS-CON's 4th International Virtualization Conference & Expo (www.VirtualizationConference.com).
For the last month Brad Brown, CTO of TUSC, has been interviewing countless companies on their status of venturing into the world of SOA. Some companies have been doing "SOA" for more than 5 years, but a great many companies haven't even started down the SOA path. Brad has been talking about Web services (what he would call a lightweight SOA implementation) for more than 5 years now which is now known in the industry as Agile SOA.
SOA Adoption is a journey with many paths. One of the journeys is the understanding where these services are coming from and Heterogeneity is Permanent. There are three areas that Automated Web service Generation by a tool makes good business sense for SOA. The exposure of Legacy systems as Web services. Legacy systems are not going away anytime soon, and companies need the ability to offer this critical data as a service. Offering a better wrapper over the standard Web service API over OBIEE (which is very complex to use, makes you do much of the work) but filled in the missing functionality that the EasyBI code didn't cover (proper security, an easier way to retrieve the results from an Answers request, perhaps even offered ways to include data from web services into the BI EE semantic model). SOA, from the service perspective, has two elements: Service Provider and Provider's Data Source(s). If DW is just a Provider's Data Source, it even might not know it is used in a SOA, i.e. there is tied DW and SOA. However, if Service Provider imposes DW to meet certain QoS and Service Agreement (SA), then the DW meets SOA. Exposing DW components as Web services within a release allowing virtualization of SOA.
Speaker Bio:
Bradley D. Brown is Chief Technology Officer of TUSC. Thomas Kurian, senior vice president -- Oracle Server Technologies Division, says, "Brad is among the foremost experts on Oracle's technology in the world." For Brad, web development isn't a job, it's his passion. He is the Oracle source who technologists around the world turn to when they seek expertise and experience in that discipline. Oracle Application Server, Oracle Application Express, Web services, and the service oriented architecture are only a few of the technologies he has mastered over a career that spans more than 25 years. In 2008 Brad took Periscope and Oracle virtualization to a new level with TUSC's Instant SOA product.
Free Cloud Computing Bootcamp on Nov 20, 2008, in San Jose, CA
1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo will offer a free "Cloud Computing Bootcamp" (http://cloudbootcamp.sys-con.com) on the second day of the conference, Thursday, November 20, 2008. Cloud computing is an opportunity for business to implement low cost, low power and high efficiency systems to deliver scalable infrastructure. But moving to a cloud infrastructure is not necessarily as nice and clean as the providers would want us to think. With cloud infrastructures problems don't magically go away, they just shift: you don't have scalability or storage problems any more, but you need constantly monitor the cloud and your application in it. In this compelling, intensive, one-day, hands-on training program, you will learn what it takes to take advantage of the Cloud - and whether it is right for you in the first place.
