Methodologies Announces Advanced Service-Oriented Modeling Framework (SOMF) for SOA Implementation

Service-Oriented Modeling Framework introduces SOA modeling disciplines for implementing business and technical services

Methodologies Corporation announced the release of SOMF version 1.1. The advanced edition is based on recent book publication entitled "Service-Oriented Modeling: Service Analysis, Design, and Architecture", written by Michael Bell and produced by Wiley & Sons Inc. in March, 2008.

"The advanced service-oriented modeling framework, also known as SOMF 1.1, offers a service life cycle development methodology designed to help organizations establish state-of-the-art software architecture disciplines for building enterprise services," states Bell. "Our goal is to provide an SOA modeling framework that is easy to understand and implement, increases application reuse, decreases expenditure, shortens time-to-market, and encourages software assets consolidation."

The provided service-oriented modeling framework disciplines enable business and IT personnel to collaborate on devising an efficient SOA model for small scale projects or large initiatives. These involved SOA project life cycle participants are typically executives, program managers, project managers, business and technical architects, business analysts, system analysts, application and database modelers, team leads, and software developers.

The released SOMF version 1.1 offers the following service-oriented modeling disciplines:

  • Service-Oriented Conceptualization
  • Service-Oriented Discovery and Analysis
  • Service-Oriented Business Integration
  • Service-Oriented Logical Design
  • Service-Oriented Conceptual Architecture
  • Service-Oriented Logical Architecture
