Crossbeam's Virtualization Solutions Combined with Trend Micro Security Deliver Performance for Messaging Security

Combined Solution Provides Power to Process Up to 140 Million Email Messages Per Day

Crossbeam and Trend Micro launched the Next Generation Content Gateway Solution for Messaging Security. This solution couples the virtualization, consolidation and performance benefits of Crossbeam's X-Series Next Generation Security Platform with Trend Micro's gateway messaging security to provide a high performance email security solution for the market.

Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security Suite is the newest addition to be available on Crossbeam's Next Generation Content Gateway solution, blocking spam, phishing, viruses, spyware and other malicious email content. This messaging protection also provides flexible content filtering to help enforce compliance and prevent data leaks. As a Next Generation Content Gateway solution, this email security is offered on Crossbeam Systems' platform, the open and extensible security platform that can integrate the industry's best security solutions. This Crossbeam and Trend Micro solution helps organizations balance security with the high-performance demands of their business.

Next Generation Content Gateway Delivers Fast Performance
Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security Suite was tested on Crossbeam's X-Series platform by independent testing agency, Opus One. The benchmark results demonstrated superior performance for next-generation networks to scale and grow easily as the customer's security needs change.

"Our real-world testing of Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security Suite on Crossbeam's X80 Next Generation Security Platform proved that it can handle the email loads of the world's largest enterprises," said Joel Snyder, senior partner at Opus One. "Trend Micro's gateway messaging security on the Crossbeam X80 hardware was capable of scanning 600 messages per second for viruses and spam, and 750 messages per second for viruses alone. When Trend Micro's Email Reputation was activated, the Crossbeam X80 could handle a load of up to 1,645 messages per second, or an astonishingly high 140 million messages in a 24-hour period."

The X-Series platform provides five times the performance over traditional appliances available today, enabling multiple applications to run simultaneously at up to 40 Gbps throughput in a single chassis, including firewall, IPS and antivirus applications. This allows customers to apply any combination of leading security applications on the X-Series with the assurance that they will have more than enough processing capacity.

"Enterprise customers are increasingly looking to offload management of their security services to Telefonica," said Juan Miguel Velasco, Information Services Protection and Projects Director at Telefonica. "The Next Generation Content Gateway messaging solution provided by Crossbeam and Trend Micro will be a cornerstone solution for us in offering 'clean-pipes' content security services to our enterprise customers. This combines the best of both worlds -- the best in messaging security delivered through the industry's leading security platform."

Additional Next Generation Content Gateway Solutions
Crossbeam's Next Generation Content Gateway solution also integrates Trend Micro InterScan Web Security Suite. Both the Trend Micro messaging and Web suites may be deployed together for consolidated gateway security or as dedicated, high-capacity solutions on the X-Series platform, depending on the customer's content security requirements. The Crossbeam and Trend Micro Next Generation Content Gateway solution family now offers comprehensive messaging and Web security to large enterprise and service provider customers, without compromising the performance, scalability and availability of their mission- critical networks.
