SYSPRO said that the
company has been recognized by AMR Research as an early provider of
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). The AMR Research Report referencing
SYSPRO, "ERP Providers Serving the Midmarket," was published in late
2007.
"SYSPRO (has) been down the SOA path for quite some time," says AMR
Research Report author Simon Jacobson. "SYSPRO componentized its product
so functionality can be consumed on any device or in tandem with a development
language as a way to add functionality and extend its product into its
customers' supply networks without the need for extensive programming or
alterations to the core system."
In another report published by AMR Research in 2006, "SOA May Be an Early Hit in the Midmarket," AMR Research author Dennis Gaughan recognized SYSPRO as being on the "forefront" of SOA technology. The report names SYSPRO as one of two midmarket ERP vendors which have made transitions to SOAs (Service Oriented Architectures). "Both companies," he says, "have been at the forefront of distributed computing and SOA."
SYSPRO's more thoughtful approach to adopting new technology, such as web services and SOA platforms, reflects the cautionary desires of its mid-market manufacturing and distribution company customers, who are driven by business needs, and not by the latest headlines. SYSPRO calls its buyer landscape "PragmaVision"(TM) -- pragmatic, but visionary ERP executives that are driven by a desire for smart, but aggressive market growth.
