HATBORO, Pa., Dec. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sports Network, the nation's premiere real-time sports wire service, has announced plans to expand its basic product and content offering to all current branded clients as well as new ones that will be joining their ranks in 2008. "This ongoing expansion for the new year is based upon management's decision to accommodate our client base as much as possible, particularly when it comes to content," stated Ken Zajac, Director of Sales for TSN. "As we expand as much as we have with our domestic and international coverage, affiliate offices around the world, and the utilization of content and technology that continues to lead the industry, our focus is in maintaining that position as we enter 2008. Consequently, we are now going to include coverage to our branded product that we already provide to our wire service clients, and that will be available to both current and new clients, inclusive of sports such as golf, tennis, soccer, boxing, auto racing and others that we have been offering for years.
"This takes us well past the traditional 'big six' of the MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA and collegiate basketball and football that have been the traditional domestic branded product in the past. As the Internet, technology and communications shrink the world, we will expand ours to give our clients more of what their users want. Further," he continued, "our depth of coverage is not only going to be escalated but it will be augmented by technology that allows for facile conversion and transition from use of any other existing service seamlessly over a short period of time."
The Sports Network also indicated that the offering and utilization of all of its special events packages in a branded environment will be treated on a case by case, client by client basis. "Our industry leading approach, inclusive of the technology, in-depth coverage and graphics attendant to specific sporting events such as the Masters, Wimbledon, World Cup Soccer, World Cup Cricket, World Series, Super Bowl, US Open and a host of others around the world," concluded Mr. Zajac, "will continue to expand in 2008 with more and more events added on a near monthly basis."
"The technology employed throughout," added Bruce Michaels, Director of Technology for The Sports Network, "is a combination of the efforts of our own staff and that of XML Team, our long time exclusive partner and, easily, the most advanced organization in the nation when it comes to XML and SportsML."
