SAP America, Inc., the U.S. and Canadian subsidiary of SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), this week announced the addition of several key executives to its leadership team overseeing strategic market segments, geographic territories, vertical industries and service units. The new executives join SAP America upon the company's completion of nine consecutive quarters of significant revenue growth, market share gains and industry leading customer satisfaction.
"We're very pleased to announce these strategic appointments to our executive leadership team," said Bill McDermott, president & CEO, SAP America, Inc. "I'm confident that these moves will accelerate SAP's market leadership in North America and further capitalize on the solid momentum our business has consistently demonstrated. SAP is better positioned more than ever to deliver the industry's leading business solutions to enable every one of our customers to become a best-run business."
With an expanding U.S. partner channel numbering 140 qualified resellers, SAP has identified a major growth area in the American small and midsize business (SMB) market. To help support this growth, Michael Sotnick has been appointed senior vice president for small and midsize business. In this role, he will be responsible for driving SMB sales, successfully growing the SAP business partner channel and developing and implementing an effective strategy for expanding the SMB program throughout North America. Sotnick comes to SAP with 15 years of experience within the enterprise software market, most recently at VERITAS Software Corporation, where he served as vice president of partner sales since 2001. There, Sotnick managed operations for the global partner network, leading both direct and indirect sales channels and forging valuable partnership initiatives with numerous international IT service provider firms. Sotnick also served as managing director for Seagate Software Corporation where he led all sales, marketing and channel operations for the EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa) market and oversaw their sales channel.
To help increase SAP's market share in the Southwest region of the United States, Steve Winter has been appointed senior vice president of SAP's regional sales management team. In this role, Winter will lead a newly created sales support team in the Southwest region, including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. Winter joins SAP from PeopleSoft, where he spent 12 years in various sales roles. While at PeopleSoft, he produced record results in the company's Southwest region and led it to become the top-producing region in North America. Additionally, he was instrumental in driving the integration of JDE's sales force and deploying mid-market and enterprise-level solutions.
To help manage the growth of SAP's service offerings, which are designed to ensure that all of its customers receive the highest level of implementation success, Greg Tomb has assumed the position of executive vice president of SAP Services for North America. Prior to this, Tomb served as senior vice president and general manager for SAP's North American Services Organization and was responsible for the leadership of SAP's North American Consulting, Education and Customer Support lines of business, which included more than 2,000 employees.
In recognition of SAP's continued growth in the telecommunications and utilities markets, Chris Camino has assumed the position of senior vice president of Telecommunications and Utilities and will be responsible for running the national sales practices for both telecommunications and utilities. Prior to assuming this position, Camino served as vice president of Telecommunications. Before joining SAP, Camino was SVP of sales for Radiance Technology, a start-up providing managed content delivery software to Fortune 500 companies.
