NORTH CANTON, Ohio, July 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Diebold, Incorporated , an industry leader in financial self-service and security, can now add "award-winning software" to its list of attributes after accepting the 2007 ACORD (Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development) Innovative Implementation Award. The award recognizes an organization that is implementing Extensible Markup Language (XML) standards in unique, exceptional and innovative ways.
ACORD, a nonprofit insurance organization known for its development and promotion of industry data standards, presented the award to Diebold at its annual ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum held May 20 - 22 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Diebold's software systems, including the Agilis(R) platform, form one piece of the company's comprehensive, integrated approach to self-service solutions. Systems like Agilis are designed to generate revenue and drive out cost through robust technology and enhanced functionality, allowing Diebold customers to efficiently connect with and serve consumers.
Diebold was recognized for its work with the United Fire Group (UFG), a property and casualty insurance carrier based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Diebold's software solution enabled UFG's independent agents to seamlessly transfer data from a multi-carrier quote comparison program to the UFG Web site while maintaining the carrier's brand equity.
"Diebold's software systems utilize the latest technology available to provide a customized, flexible solution," said Kumar Pavithran, Diebold's vice president, global software and systems development. "We are able to tailor our offerings to each customer's unique needs, adjusting our strategies to fit any environment. The UFG case is one example of how Diebold software can increase profits and improve customer satisfaction."
The ACORD awards have been presented annually since 1997 to companies that have embraced standards as a powerful solution that improves data communications and workflow efficiency, saves money for the entire industry and expands trading partner opportunities. The 2007 awards focused on implementations that highlight business value, business opportunities and trading partners.
"Diebold is to be congratulated not only for earning this award, but for showing the industry how beneficial ACORD data standards are for improving business and data flow," said Denise Garth, vice president, membership and standards, ACORD. "These awards recognize the leadership, dedication and commitment of members who not only understand the value of ACORD standards, but actively implement them within their organizations to improve business and communication across the insurance value chain."
