Pixo is now an integral part of the Sun Software organization under executive vice president Jonathan Schwartz. Pixo's products and technologies will be integrated into Sun's Java technology strategy, and will be offered in conjunction with other mobility programs from Sun. Pixo will become an integral component of the Solaris Operating Environment and will leverage the Project Orion platform, which converges Sun's software offerings into a scheduled quarterly release of an integrated software system.
"The future of the network is predicated upon the secure distribution and monetization of digital content," said Jonathan Schwartz, executive vice president, Software, Sun Microsystems. "Whether for the growth of the mobile handset marketplace, set top boxes, or the emerging landscape of Sun's desktop initiatives, Pixo is at the center of our platform strategy."
