"Compuware Quality Management represents a crucial step on the path to helping organizations systematically mature their quality processes," said John Williams, SVP of Product Management and Strategy at Compuware Corporation, as Compuware today introduced its new Quality Assurance solution. This new solution helps organizations progressively mature and manage quality across the life cycle, accelerating the path to Quality Governance.
Compuware Quality Management, says the company, is built :to help QA organizations take the next step in quality maturity" by enabling those organizations to implement a repeatable quality process and to put metrics in place to track ongoing projects. QA managers then use Compuware Quality Management to monitor these metrics and to ensure that their teams are consistently executing the organization's quality process, ultimately delivering higher-quality applications.
Compuware Test Management also makes the testing process more efficient by automating the functional testing process. It delivers powerful support for automated regression testing and helps testers to efficiently manage large volumes of test data. Test Management's support for test data management is unique in the industry, and it enables organizations to safeguard sensitive data while maintaining the integrity, consistency and usability of the test data. The solution is designed "to help QA organizations grow from straightforward test management into a more comprehensive solution for quality process management," said Williams.
"The next step for the software quality assurance industry is to move to a more sophisticated level of quality process management," said Thomas Murphy, Research Director at Gartner, Inc. "To do this effectively, QA organizations need to standardize their quality process, put the proper metrics in place, and then continuously undergo process improvement. By doing this, quality organizations will be able to deliver quality applications on a repeatable basis."
ACTIONABLE INSIGHT INTO APPLICATION QUALITY AND PRACTICES
Compuware Quality Management provides quality managers with actionable insight into the quality process, giving quality managers the data they need to quickly identify problems and resolve issues. Compuware Quality Management delivers this data in a web-based portal, which has a quality manager's dashboard containing reports that give a cross-project view of current quality status for all projects that have ongoing testing activities. When Compuware Quality Management identifies problem areas, the quality manager can quickly drill down into more detailed reports to pinpoint and resolve issues.
CONSISTENT EXECUTION OF THE QUALITY PROCESS
Compuware Quality Management also provides a visual workflow that enables organizations to consistently implement their quality process. It allows quality organizations to establish quality phases and the entrance and exit criteria for each phase, as well as quality gates to track and monitor the progress. Quality Management ships with Compuware QualityPoint(r), a patented methodology for comprehensive software quality assurance. Organizations can adopt QualityPoint in its entirety, or customize the process to fit their unique QA process.
