(SYS-CON Media) - David S. Linthicum (pictured), the internationally known application integration and service-oriented architecture expert, will be speaking at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 (East) about the value, architecture, and approaches for creating RIA, leveraging AJAX or other RIA technologies. Linthicum has formed many of the ideas for modern distributed computing including EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) and B2B application integration, and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), approaches and technology in wide use today. He's held key technology management roles with a number of organizations including CTO of Mercator, SAGA Software, Mobil Oil, EDS, AT&T, and Ernst and Young. In addition he was an associate professor of computer science for eight years, and continues to lecture at major technical colleges and universities. He has authored over 500 articles for major computing publications, and has monthly columns in several popular industry magazines. Typical of the coverage was the story from ADT Magazine, whose John K. Waters wrote, in a report titled "Nexaweb and JackBe Take Web 2 to the Enterprise": "Last week's AJAXWorld Conference and Expo ... had the feel of an early JavaOne?which is to say, the place was positively quivering with possibility."
Rich Internet Applications (RIAS) describe what the software development community aims to do, namely break out of primitive Web delivery to deliver robust functionality, exciting data visualization and "thicker," role-based and process-oriented user interfaces.
"RIAs have made the Web a legitimate platform for corporate America," notes Linthicum, "with RIA applications looking very similar, if not exactly like their native counterparts."
Thus, he explains, past limitations of HTTP/HTML are no longer issues: "Indeed, the interest in RIA has lead to a glut of technology start-ups, all looking to capitalize on this emerging market."
In his session, "Tapping the Power with Rich Internet Applications," Linthicum will consider design as well, and the end user experience.
His latest book, Next Generation Application Integration, was just released and is already a bestseller.
At AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, aside from sessions such as this one by Dave Linthicum, delegates will hear and learn not only the history, process, and inspiration behind AJAX, they will also be helped to design actual AJAX applications using JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the Document Object Model (DOM) and XMLHttpRequest Object.
Delegates can hand-pick sessions from six tracks pitched at a a variety of levels from Beginner to Advanced. Rather than staying at the platform-agnostic level, developers and IT professionals will find among the 100+ sessions at AJAXWorld real-world examples in all the main server-side technologies such as PHP, Java, .NET and ColdFusion.
