Dell is reshuffling itself into business and consumer halves instead of enterprise and client - consumer being its weaker half, bringing in less than 20% of its revenues.Dell is doing one of those two-in-a-box management things and putting server chief Brad Anderson and desktop chief Jeff Clarke over the new Business Products Group. Notebook boss Alex Gruzen will run the Consumer Products Group on his own. Both Anderson and Gruzen are HP graduates.
Meanwhile, after a long search it has tapped Steve Schuckenbrock, who was co-COO of EDS until earlier this year, to head its global services operation, reporting to CEO Kevin Rollins and serving as a member of Dell's Global Executive Management Committee.
In a canned statement, Rollins underscored the importance of Schuckenbrock's post saying, "Our services business is one of Dell's fastest growing businesses and it is one of our strategic pillars for Dell 2.0."
Analysts estimate the worldwide IT services market at $640 billion.
Schuckenbrock was CIO of Pepsi from 1998 to 2000, a job he also had at Frito-Lay from 1995 to 1998. He hails from IBM.
He starts at Dell on January 8.
