IoT & The Zettabyte

A Billion Here, A Trillion There: Consider Really Big Data

I've done a little more thinking abou The Zettabyte Age, and the continuing, astonishing drop in storage costs. No reason to get distracted by dreamy scenarios of the future, but I think it's worth considering how quickly we've progressed in recent years and how quickly we should continue to progress.

As I gear up over the next four months for what I anticipate to be an incredible @ThingsExpo in Santa Clara Nov 4-6, I think about these things. We must offer the latest knowledge about what's going on right now, what will be going on soon, and given what can be dizzying change in this industry, where things are headed in the longer term.

For now, I jotted down a few thoughts about petabytes, zettabytes, and the yottabyte in my blog at The Tau Institute. You should find this to be of interest.
