Linode’s CLI Gives Users Easy Way to Manage Servers in the Cloud

It makes it easy to modify DNS zones and records and output to JSON format for scripting of repetitive tasks

Linode has announced availability of the Linode CLI, a new tool that provides a convenient way to provision and manage Linode cloud services from the command line. The Linode CLI enables users to easily automate common tasks, such as creating, rebooting, or resizing servers, while also making it straightforward to manage DNS records and distribute workloads across backend Linodes.

While some users will be content using the Linode Manager or Linode Mobile to administer their services, those who prefer the convenience of the command line will find Linode CLI a time saving alternative. Not only can Linode CLI be used to provision Linodes and manage NodeBalancers, it also makes it easy to modify DNS zones and records and output to JSON format for scripting of repetitive tasks.

“Many systems administrators appreciate the convenience of working with a command line interface,” said Christopher Aker, founder and CEO of Linode. “The Linode CLI is an intuitive and easy-to-use utility that gives users the same capability to manage Linodes and automate provisioning as they’ve grown accustomed to, only now they can do so without having to log into the Linode Manager. It’s a time-saving and practical solution for many users.”

Linode CLI also allows users to:

  • Create configuration files for storing default preferences.
  • Display account information such as account balance or network transfer.
  • Display details about individual Linodes.
  • Perform actions with StackScripts.

The Linode CLI command line interface utility is now available to all Linode customers. Please visit https://github.com/linode/cli for more information.
