CI&T Spearheads One of the Largest Drupal Implementations in the World

For Leading Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Company

A Large, Global Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Company

The Company is one of the largest healthcare and pharmaceutical companies in the world, with businesses ranging from consumer products to medical devices to pharmaceutical products.

Managing Consolidated IT Operations for Hundreds of Brands

In the early 2000s, the Company began consolidating its worldwide IT operations, creating IT centers across the globe to meet the universal needs of the more than 250 operating companies under its umbrella.  One of these IT centers was established in São Paulo state, Brazil. This location was chosen due to its favorable time zone location in relation to North America, as well as the Company's knowledge of local developers' capacity for innovation and creativity.

In order to properly manage these global centers, the Company needed to carefully select a technology partner that could provide the quality and competence that the global organization required. After a thorough search, it was clear that the Company's best partner for its Brazilian IT center was CI&T.

Integrated Teams Provide High-Quality Digital Marketing Services

The Company was looking for a Nearshore partner to provide high-quality IT support services and CI&T fit the bill perfectly - world-class, efficient teams that could provide reliable and innovative solutions.

CI&T's relationship with the Company began in 2004, working for its pharmaceutical and consumer products divisions on application management engagements. The Company was so pleased with the partnership that it extended it with CI&T across multiple corporate divisions and more than 50 countries. The engagement expanded to also include application development projects.

Relationship Expansion - Largest Drupal Implementation the World

The relationship continued to grow in 2007 when the Company selected Drupal as a content management system for more than 500 of its external websites, and needed experienced Drupal developers to manage the sites' content. With the largest number of Drupal developers on staff in the world, CI&T perfectly fit this need. CI&T's relationship with the Company extended even further to provide web and mobile services to regional consumer and pharmaceutical brands, as well as global medical devices and diagnostics groups.

What resulted was one of, if not the largest, Drupal implementations in the world. CI&T has migrated and/or developed more than 500 Drupal websites for hundreds of brands for the Company. CI&T has designed and developed both brand and institutional websites, internet portals, mobile applications, mobile sites and participated in other high-level marketing engagements for the Company.

Worldwide Website and Mobile Application Services - Quickly and at Tremendously Lower Costs

Working with CI&T and employing Drupal to manage external websites has led to significant time and cost savings for the Company - up to $314,000 per year of engagement for each CI&T team.

Due to the scalable, fast nature of Drupal, the Company can now ensure that websites "go live" minutes after the FDA approves a new drug. The speed-to-delivery for Drupal is unparalleled and the team has been able to deploy websites in record time - something that is invaluable to a pharmaceutical and healthcare company.

Today, more than 200 CI&T professionals work on this engagement.  The enormity of this relationship is due to the trust and partnership established between the Company and CI&T. CI&T prides itself on clear and consistent communication with clients and establishing valued partnerships built on a foundation of innovation, rather than just vendor relationships.

With the technical and business knowledge built throughout the relationship, CI&T is continually entrusted with complex and high-end projects. The quality results from CI&T combined with the benefits of Drupal, have formed a relationship between the Company and CI&T that is still going strong after 10 years.

Using new techniques of information modeling, indexing, and processing, new cloud-based systems can support cloud-based workloads previously not possible for high-throughput insurance, banking, and case-based applications. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, John Newton, CTO, Founder and Chairman of Alfresco, described how to scale cloud-based content management repositories to store, manage, and retrieve billions of documents and related information with fast and linear scalability. Adding public cloud resources to an existing application can be a daunting process. The tools that you currently use to manage the software and hardware outside the cloud aren’t always the best tools to efficiently grow into the cloud. All of the major configuration management tools have cloud orchestration plugins that can be leveraged, but there are also cloud-native tools that can dramatically improve the efficiency of managing your application lifecycle. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, ...
The now mainstream platform changes stemming from the first Internet boom brought many changes but didn’t really change the basic relationship between servers and the applications running on them. In fact, that was sort of the point. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Gordon Haff, senior cloud strategy marketing and evangelism manager at Red Hat, will discuss how today’s workloads require a new model and a new platform for development and execution. The platform must handle a wide range of rec...
Containers and Kubernetes allow for code portability across on-premise VMs, bare metal, or multiple cloud provider environments. Yet, despite this portability promise, developers may include configuration and application definitions that constrain or even eliminate application portability. In this session we'll describe best practices for "configuration as code" in a Kubernetes environment. We will demonstrate how a properly constructed containerized app can be deployed to both Amazon and Azure ...
