The new storage arrays, shipping immediately, deliver increased storage performance and density to customers, feature a 4-gigabit data pipeline, more throughput on both reads and writes, and RoHS compliance.

The new Engenio storage arrays from LSI extend BlueArc's leadership in tiered storage. More than three years ago, BlueArc was one of the first companies to offer both the highest performance Fibre Channel arrays and high density Serial ATA (SATA) arrays together in the same integrated system. Now, BlueArc continues its leadership by offering support for both Fibre Channel and SATA arrays that can be managed by the same RAID controller.

The new arrays, coupled with BlueArc's leading data migration software, enable large scale automated data movement based on a rich set of predefined rules or policies without any impact on end-users, forming a critical keystone for implementing dynamic data lifecycle management.

With the new arrays, BlueArc now offers a range of Fibre Channel and SATA drives from 73 gigabytes up to 500 gigabytes per drive, including the latest in SATA II technology for enhanced SATA performance.

The new Fibre Channel and SATA arrays from LSI are designed to offer 16 disks per shelf, for a maximum of 8 terabytes per Titan shelf, an increase in storage density of more than 30 percent. Additionally, the arrays have been tested to deliver read and write performance more than double that of comparable systems on the market. BlueArc customers can now more easily achieve maximum performance from the Titan 2000 storage system, requiring fewer drives and RAID controllers, and lowering acquisition costs. Additionally, existing BlueArc customers can benefit from industry-leading investment protection, as all new storage arrays are compatible with existing Titan systems and storage pools.
