Soave Automotive Group is a proud sponsor of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, recently built in Kansas City.
Soave Automotive Group (including Aristocrat Motors and Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City) are proud sponsors of the exquisitely new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. From the first performance Soave has enthusiastically supported both the venue and the programs presented there.
The Building
The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts has put Kansas City in the national spotlight as a major new center for music, opera, theater, and dance. Designed by Moshe Safdie, the Kauffman Center presents a wide range of entertainers and performers from around the world, and serves as the performance home of three of the region’s leading performing arts organizations – Kansas City Ballet, Kansas City Symphony, and Lyric
Opera of Kansas City. Soave affiliates Aristocrat Motors and Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City are the official sponsors of the building.
“I am a believer that the site of a project always holds the secret for its design concept. Walking around, I was compelled by the dramatic view to the south. Thus, I placed the two performance halls to face south, integrated and connected by a single great lobby—an expansive glazed porch contained by a glass tent-like structure,” said Safdie.
The Kauffman Center’s two performance venues – Muriel Kauffman Theatre and Helzberg Hall – are distinct structures, each existing in their own acoustical envelope and housed within a dramatic architectural shell. This shell features a glass roof and glass walls, providing sweeping views of Kansas City to the south. The north façade features arched walls sheathed in stainless steel that rise from the ground like a wave. Five acres of green space surround the Kauffman Center and is available to be used for outdoor performances and as a public gathering space.
The Legends Series
Soave Automotive Group, Aristocrat Motors and Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City, were presenting sponsors for the 2011-12 Legends Series that featured performances by Lily Tomlin, Mavis Staples and Aretha Franklin. The performers in the 2012-13 Legends Series, also presented by Soave Automotive Group, will be announced this summer.
The Open Doors Program for Children
Aristocrat Motors and Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City have been key partners in the success of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Art’s education initiative called Open Doors. This program has been designed to provide opportunities for young people in the Kansas City metropolitan area, especially for those with limited access the arts, to attend performances at the Kauffman Center and perform onstage.
