dbMotion, an innovative provider of connected healthcare solutions, has been selected to implement its interoperability platform across Fraser Health, a 12-hospital integrated delivery network (IDN) serving 1.7 million people in the Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada. The agreement was signed in late 2012, with the go-live scheduled for November 2013.
With the dbMotion platform, patient data captured at any Fraser facility will be aggregated and harmonized to create a comprehensive, longitudinal patient record. Providers throughout the network will be able to access and use the information at the point of care and within their preferred clinical system and workflow. The interoperability enabled by the dbMotionTM Solution likewise will allow Fraser to connect with other provincial data sources in the future. This approach, called Unifying Clinical Information (UCI), will support greater collaboration and coordination, ultimately leading to better care for patients and populations served by Fraser Health.
“The ability to ensure a patient’s comprehensive health record data is available, in real time, across the Fraser Health continuum of care will not only enable us to improve how we treat patients, but will eventually allow us to enhance care throughout the province as we exchange health information with other care delivery organizations across British Columbia,” says Philip Barker, Fraser Health’s Vice President of Informatics & Transformation Support.
“We are delighted to enter into this partnership with Fraser Health and are looking forward to the go-live later this year,” says Peter McClennen, President of dbMotion North America, adding that Fraser is the second Canadian healthcare enterprise to deploy its platform. “As the desire to improve quality of care continues to be a major focus for the industry, the ability to turn data from disparate technologies into actionable information will be invaluable.”
