Toshiba lance un capteur d'images CMOS BSI haute sensibilité de 20MP

Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO : 6502) a annoncé aujourd'hui le lancement d'un nouveau capteur d'image CMOS de 20 mégapixels (MP), le TCM5115CL, dernier modèle destiné à compléter la gamme de capteurs pour appareils photo numériques. Le TCM5115CL offre la plus haute résolution du secteur dans le format optique de 1/2,3 pouces (12 mm), utilisant la technologie de rétroéclairage (BSI) pour améliorer la sensibilité et les performances d'imagerie.

L'échantillonnage du nouveau capteur débutera à la fin de janvier 2013 et la production de masse en août 2013.

Les progrès constants dans la résolution offerte par les appareils photo numériques compacts, maintenant de l'ordre de 10 à 16MP, posent le défi d'améliorer la performance et la qualité de l'image grâce à des pixels plus petits. Le TCM5115CL y parvient en améliorant de 15 % la capacité électronique maximale, c.-à-d. la quantité de charge qu'un pixel individuel peut contenir avant de saturer, par rapport à la génération précédente des capteurs Toshiba de 16MP (taille du pixel = 1,34μm).

Le TCM5115CL est conçu pour répondre aux exigences de haute qualité et de rapidité de capture d'images et d'enregistrement vidéo HD qui permettent une lecture au ralenti fluide et offrent les fréquences d'images élevées de 60fps à 1080p et de 100fps à 720p.

Les capteurs d'images CMOS sont le produit phare des solutions analogiques et systèmes d'imagerie offerts par Toshiba. L'ajout du modèle TCM5115CL à la gamme des capteurs CMOS pour appareils photo numériques va renforcer l'activité de la société et lui permettre de se rapprocher de son objectif d'atteindre une part de marché de 30 % en 2015.
