Trumba Powers Online Event Calendars For 25 San Antonio Public Library Locations

San Antonio Public Library Leverages Trumba Connect To Provide Comprehensive Library Event Information

SEATTLE, Dec. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Trumba Corporation, a developer of innovative online calendaring solutions, announced today that San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) selected Trumba Connect to power their online event calendars. Trumba Connect helps organizations increase event awareness and attendance and better connects them with their audiences through a comprehensive suite of tools that includes a hosted, interactive web calendar, email, and reporting services.

SAPL leverages Trumba's calendar sharing features to provide complete event information for its Central Library and all 25 individual branch locations.  Each location's calendar can be viewed individually or any combination of branch calendars can be combined into one master calendar and displayed together.  Trumba's powerful publishing features allow SAPL's audience to filter 29 event types (Story Times, Classes, Lectures, Movies and more) and/or six audience types (age groups such as Kids, Adults, Seniors) so that site visitors can easily find specific events of interest.  Trumba's keyword search provides another tool for quickly finding a specific event.  SAPL also provides four of Trumba's many calendar view options (table, list, month and detail) allowing visitors to tailor their view to their individual preference.

Trumba's online event submission feature makes it easy for SAPL to collect events from library staff across the branches.  All events that require approval before being published are submitted by staff members via their intranet to an internal calendar.  An email notification is automatically sent to the calendar administrator who can then configure the event and move it to the appropriate public calendar.  SAPL also publishes an internal calendar of staff training and professional development events on their intranet.  These internal calendars are not publically accessible.  By adding training as an event type in Trumba, SAPL can accurately track and report on the training that their staff attends.

"We really like how Trumba's custom fields make it easy to customize our event information," says Adam Spana, SAPL's Digital Services Librarian.  "We also appreciate how easy it is to structure and submit event data, and republish it elsewhere such as in our printed newsletters, in addition to displaying various calendars on our web site.  Trumba's RSS feeds, email and text message reminders, and other event actions are a great example of leveraging every way there is to communicate with the public and increase engagement with our library and events."

Trumba will be exhibiting Trumba Connect at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting (ALAMW13) in Seattle, WA January 25-29, 2013.  For information go to http://alamw13.ala.org/

"For over 25 years we have been working with a lot of enterprise customers and we have seen how companies create applications. And now that we have moved to cloud computing, mobile, social and the Internet of Things, we see that the market needs a new way of creating applications," stated Jesse Shiah, CEO, President and Co-Founder of AgilePoint Inc., in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 15th Cloud Expo, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
There are standards for making sure the information is safe in transit (SSL) and when stored (PCI, SOC, ISO), but where are the standards around the surface area that APIs represent? We want to expose our data, but not the wrong data and never to the wrong people. APIs are now part of our front-line defense layer and we need to treat it with the same concern and specificity as we do any other security risk. Two types of APIs dominate the landscape: SOAP and REST web services. SOAP, while impl...
I read an insightful article this morning from Bernard Golden on DZone discussing the DevOps conundrum facing many enterprises today – is it better to build your own DevOps tools or go commercial? For Golden, the question arose from his observations at a number of DevOps Days events he has attended, where typically the audience is composed of startup professionals: “I have to say, though, that a typical feature of most presentations is a recitation of the various open source products and compo...
This is the final installment of the six-part series Microservices and PaaS. It seems like forever since I attended Adrian Cockroft's meetup focusing on microservices. It's actually only been a couple of months, but much has happened since then: countless articles, meetups, and conference sessions focusing on microservices have been delivered, many meetings and design efforts at companies moving towards a microservices-based approach have been endured, and five installments of this blog series ...
In the first four parts of this series I presented an introduction to microservices along with a handful of emerging microservices patterns, and a discussion of some of the downsides and challenges to using microservices. The most recent installment of this series looked at ten ways that PaaS facilitates microservices development and adoption. In this post I’ll cover some words of wisdom, advice intended for individuals, teams, and organizations considering a move to microservices. I've gleaned...
Virtualization is everywhere. Enormous and highly profitable companies have been built on nothing but virtualization. And nowhere has virtualization made more of an impact than in Cloud Computing, the rampant and unprecedented adoption of which has been the direct result of the wide availability of virtualization software and techniques that enabled it. But does the cloud actually require virtualization?
"For the past 4 years we have been working mainly to export. For the last 3 or 4 years the main market was Russia. In the past year we have been working to expand our footprint in Europe and the United States," explained Andris Gailitis, CEO of DEAC, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at Cloud Expo, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
Container technology is sending shock waves through the world of cloud computing. Heralded as the 'next big thing,' containers provide software owners a consistent way to package their software and dependencies while infrastructure operators benefit from a standard way to deploy and run them. Containers present new challenges for tracking usage due to their dynamic nature. They can also be deployed to bare metal, virtual machines and various cloud platforms. How do software owners track the usag...
The release of Kibana 4.x has had an impact on monitoring and other related activities.  In this post we’re going to get specific and show you how to add Node.js monitoring to the Kibana 4 server app.  Why Node.js?  Because Kibana 4 now comes with a little Node.js server app that sits between the Kibana UI and the […]
"Appcore has been around since January 2008. We exclusively built clouds for service providers. We've been working with CloudStack since about that same time and our software sits on top of CloudStack," stated Jeff Tegethoff, CEO of Appcore, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 15th Cloud Expo, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
Growth hacking is common for startups to make unheard-of progress in building their business. Career Hacks can help Geek Girls and those who support them (yes, that's you too, Dad!) to excel in this typically male-dominated world. Get ready to learn the facts: Is there a bias against women in the tech / developer communities? Why are women 50% of the workforce, but hold only 24% of the STEM or IT positions? Some beginnings of what to do about it!

Matt and I first met in the Summer of 2014 at DevOpsDays Minneapolis. My first introduction came when he (and several other DoD alums) participated in an impressive round of DevOps Karaoke. Matt gave an IGNITE talk on day two of the event titled “How to Hire Your First DevOp” as well. I learned during that event that he co-hosted a DevOps specific podcast that was gaining in popularity. It made perfect sense. Not long after Minneapolis, I began trading emails with the organizers of DevOpsDays C...
