OLEAN, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/27/12 -- Elijah Cheeks and Eric Salzwedel, district managers for Vector Marketing Corporation, the single-level direct sales division of Cutco Cutlery Corporation, were presented with the Marty Domitrovich Triple Crown of Service award at the company's recent Strategic Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. The award is given in memory of one of Vector Marketing's most esteemed leaders, and is presented each year to the person or persons within Vector Marketing who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improving the world around them through their service-oriented contributions to their communities. This is the third year the award has been presented.
Cheeks, a resident of Catasaqua, Pennsylvania who manages Vector Marketing's Bethlehem, Pennsylvania office, received the award on behalf of the numerous contributions he has made within the Lehigh Valley area community. His many efforts to better the lives of those less fortunate include:
- Volunteering at Saint Luke's Neighborhood, a community center for at-risk youth in inner city Allentown, Pennsylvania. Cheeks has taken his Lehigh Valley sales representatives to the center on numerous occasions to tutor, play soccer or just spend time with the children and serve as positive role models in their lives. The center services children between the ages of 3-12 years old.
- Raising money with his team to donate to a local church.
- Volunteering at a soup kitchen in Easton, Pennsylvania.
- Fundraising for Mike's Lemonade Stand (aka Alex's Lemonade Stand) along with his local Applebee's.
Salzwedel is a resident of Janesville, Wisconsin and manages Vector Marketing's Janesville office. His numerous charitable accomplishments include:
- Initiating the Oshkosh MDA Bowl-A-Thon in 2008 while still in college. The event has raised more than $20,000. He also serves as current vice president of the Executive Committee of MDA for Southwest Wisconsin.
- Volunteering as a Big Brother for Big Brothers/Big Sisters from 2006-2010.
- Co-founding "Project Volunteers" with the mission of motivating and inspiring youth and adults to volunteer in their community.
- Coordinating the Wisconsin Division fundraiser for "Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation."
- Volunteering and raising money for the Salvation Army, including ringing bells and holding a yearly food drive.
- Reaching out to individuals in need, including painting the house of a woman who broke her back and purchasing gifts for a family whose house burned down right before Christmas.
- Raising money for the Special Olympics in Wisconsin via a Polar Plunge.
