Accenture (NYSE:ACN) today unveiled a new version of its Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle (AFPO), which helps clients accelerate deployments on Oracle Fusion Middleware. Version five adds exciting new capabilities including integration with Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Mobile and Oracle WebCenter.
Accessing enterprise applications from mobile devices has presented new challenges to clients, such as device management and security. AFPO now helps clients address this challenge by integrating with Oracle ADF Mobile.
AFPO is a unique accelerator that includes documentation, day one deliverables and quick start virtual machine images, along with access to a skilled team of resources, to reduce risk and cost while improving project quality. It can be delivered all at once or in stages, on-site, hosted, or as a cloud solution. The new version also features rapid configuration and implementation capabilities for SOA/BPM integrated with Oracle WebCenter Portal, Oracle WebCenter Content, Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Identity Management and Oracle ADF Mobile.
The mobile capabilities of AFPO enable organizations to deliver critical business applications, such as ERP systems, on mobile devices, helping employees become more productive and competitive. AFPO helps clients take advantage of Oracle’s strategy for enterprise mobility across the company’s wide product portfolio using a common development framework for multi-channel, multi-platform mobile application development. Regardless of what Oracle enterprise application a company is running, they can use AFPO to speed and simplify the extension of the application to mobile devices and reduce the overall program cost.
“AFPO has been proven to simplify and speed the installation of Oracle Fusion Middleware at more than 50 clients around the world. By plugging into Accenture’s experience and advanced toolsets, clients are able to shift their focus from getting the implementation right to getting the right business outcomes,” said Derek Steelberg, global managing director of Oracle business for Accenture. “Now with Oracle ADF Mobile, Accenture is uniquely able to help clients make Oracle ERP applications available via mobile devices with AFPO.”
AFPO version five also reduces the amount of time needed to plan, analyze, and design portal and collaboration architectures. Companies will increasingly need to leverage SOA and BPM underneath portal technology to maximize employee collaboration and effectiveness—getting the right information to the right user across the complexity of enterprise systems and data silos.
AFPO version five also delivers a starter kit for Oracle SOA Suite which builds upon the integration methodology, leading practices and extended tooling contained within the Oracle Foundation Pack. The combination of the AFPO starter kit and Foundation Pack jump-start and streamline Oracle SOA Suite implementation initiatives, helping to reduce the risk of deploying new technologies and making architectural decisions, so clients can ultimately reduce cost, risk and the time needed for an implementation.
The new features in AFPO version five are pre-integrated to work with more than 30 Oracle Fusion Middleware products that are key to delivering business benefits and functionality. Since version one of AFPO was released in January 2011, Accenture has worked with more than 50 clients from a variety of industries.
“With Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle, the company is able to leverage its Oracle implementation experience in order to speed deployments for our customers,” said John Gawkowski, vice president, Oracle Platform Technology Solutions. “We’re pleased to see Accenture’s continued success with this accelerator and the value it brings to our joint customers.”
