Red Hat, which has to be wary of SuSE's moves, has upgraded its software for some of IBM's non-Intel machines. Its says Red Hat Linux 7.1 for the iSeries and pSeries now includes what it calls extended support for 32-bit applications running within a native 64-bit environment.

Red Hat is also supporting more IBM models. Its coverage now includes the iSeries models 270, 820, 830, 840 and 890; the pSeries models 620, 640 and 660; and the zSeries z900 and z800.

It adds that its IBM eServer support includes native English, German and Japanese software.
