Joining JackBe as Chief Technology Officer is John Crupi, a Sun Distinguished Engineer and former CTO of Sun’s Enterprise Web Services Global Practice responsible for SOA strategy and initiatives. Deepak Alur, a Sun Principal Engineer and Sun’s lead architect for implementing eBay’s V3 project and other large-scale enterprise projects for key clients, joins as JackBe’s VP of engineering. Dan Malks, also a Sun Principal Engineer and a leader in SOA initiatives for firms such as Sabre and AOL, assumes the role of VP of application platform. Malks was named Technology Innovator of the Year in 2005 for leading the development of technology infrastructure for Bono and U2’s worldwide Vertigo tour, allowing fans to enlist into the ONE campaign.
Crupi, Alur and Malks are also co-authors of “Core J2EE Patterns: Best Practices and Design Strategies,” an industry standard best-selling book focused on building Java-based enterprise applications using proven solutions.

The company also announced the appointment of Julius Genachowski to its board of directors.
Genachowski, most recently chief of business operations and a member of the office of Chairman Barry Diller at IAC/InterActiveCorp., brings a wealth of business experience to JackBe’s board of directors. He spent eight years at IAC, where he helped grow the company into one of the world’s largest e-commerce and new media firms. During his career, he has served as a member of the boards of directors of public companies including Expedia, Inc., Hotels.com and Ticketmaster; he served on the board of advisors of the video search company Truveo until its recent sale to AOL. Genachowski currently serves on the boards of directors of The Motley Fool, Website Pros and Beliefnet. He is the co-founder of Rock Creek Ventures, an investment and advisory services firm, and is also a founding organizer of a new commercial bank focusing on clean tech, renewable energy, green businesses and resource-efficient projects.
