Greenplum has named Elie Simon to set up and run its European operations. Before joining the database house, Simon, once upon a time president of Sun's EMEA unit, which then represented $5 billion of Sun's annual revenue, was chairman of Insync Software which provides the fabric for RFID, GPS and sensor-driven line-of-business software applications, and chairman and co-founder of Digiprice, an early stage company designing social-net-shopping solutions for the retail industry. He was previously CEO of TAGSYS, the RFID infrastructure design and development concern.
