Oracle is buying SOA management and governance ISV AmberPoint on undisclosed terms. AmberPoint, Oracle's first acquisition since the great Sun takeover a couple of weeks ago, is ironically run by ex-Sun folk, who got to Sun via its Forte Software acquisition. The deal should close this half and the widgetry added to Oracle's Fusion Middleware SOA Management Solutions. It's good for diagnosing and resolving issues in application performance and business transactions. That was Tuesday. On Wednesday Oracle said it's also buying Convergin, a provider of real-time service brokering solutions, also on undisclosed terms. Its J2EE-based Service Broker platform lets communications service providers (CSPs) manage services for a wide range of networks and application platforms, including pre-paid charging. It's supposed to let CSPs focus on launching new services while modernizing to next-generation networks.
