Prestigious U.S. Universities Learn More About Their Data With the SAP(R) BusinessObjects(TM) Portfolio

Duke University and University of Nebraska Select SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Solutions to Improve Decision-Making

WALLDORF, Germany, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that two prestigious universities in the United States are implementing solutions from the SAP® BusinessObjects(TM) portfolio, further establishing SAP's presence in the higher education market. Duke University and the University of Nebraska have selected SAP BusinessObjects business intelligence (BI) solutions to provide comprehensive visibility of research, fundraising and spending across their operations. This announcement demonstrates how BI contributes to the education of a new generation of students and helps colleges and universities enhance their business operations.

The University of Nebraska is comprised of four distinct campuses and just recently extended its SAP system to Nebraska State College System. The university will use SAP BusinessObjects solutions to expand reporting capabilities across both organizations, provide improved analysis of multiple data sources and present business information to its executive audience using visually appealing and easy-to-interpret dashboards. The university selected SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions for their simplicity. It will now be able to provide employees with self-service access to data and intuitive information analysis, helping them to make better-informed decisions. As an existing SAP customer, the university will also use the new solutions to evaluate data from the enterprise resource planning (ERP) application SAP® ERP. Xcelsius® software, an interactive data visualization solution and part of the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio, will give administrators a consolidated view of key metrics, allowing them to answer business queries at a glance. The University of Nebraska's implementation of SAP software encompasses all aspects of institutional business operations and includes finance, human capital management and logistics capabilities.

Duke University, a longtime SAP customer, is currently implementing a component of the SAP® Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) application for fundraising operations. The CRM system overhaul was an ideal time switch to a new set of BI solutions to address this need. In addition to reporting on fundraising, Duke plans to use Crystal Reports® software for better insight into budgeting, HR, payroll and finances, including sponsored research programs and vendor spend. Administrators will use this information to help optimize the university's organization of finances. Implementation of Crystal Reports has already begun, and is scheduled to go live by the end of 2010.
