Acer's got its heart set on being first out with an official Chrome netbook sometime in the second half of next year, according to what DigiTimes is saying, which is when the OS is supposed to go gold. It's reportedly been working with Google on the thing for the last few months. Acer did an Android netbook that reportedly hasn't sold very well.

While it's nice that Google and Acer share the vision of cloud-based computing, it's also worth noting that we at litl already have a webbook on the market (available at litl.com) that runs our own cloud-based OS.

Unlike Chrome, litlOS is focused on creating a new and better web experience for the home, so we don't have the usual browser interface, we have our own innovative UI. In conjunction with easel mode (litl's inverted-V position) and our growing cohort of litl channels (special apps that customize media streams, content and webapps) we offer something truly different, much more than just a browser. Since we have a remote update system that automatically updates the software, new channels and features will keep appearing on the device. And there's no maintenance whatsoever.
