Prometheus Research announced today the availability of its new database software tool, HT//SQL, a web application that web-enables databases in all industries quickly, securely, and at low cost.

Prometheus Research, a leader in biomedical research informatics, has been using a form of its HT//SQL software for its biomedical research customers, including leading universities and private foundations, which use the tool to analyze and share research data with colleagues through a simple, easy-to-navigate, web-based URL. With the commercial launch of HT//SQL, Prometheus envisions extending the benefits of the software to businesses, government agencies, and other data-centric organizations that recognize the power of data-driven intelligence but struggle with issues of cost and access.

By translating the language of the web (HTTP) into the language of databases (SQL), Prometheus HT//SQL eliminates many of the traditional barriers to data access. Users of HT//SQL-enabled databases can browse, search, share, and develop new applications using an interface that is familiar and ubiquitous--the Internet browser.
