NEW YORK, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Scott Martin has joined the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP in the New York City office as a shareholder in the Antitrust Litigation Practice. Martin joins from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP where he served as a partner.
Martin focuses his practice in the areas of antitrust and complex commercial litigation. In recent years, he has been instrumental in the defense of many of the most significant antitrust class actions and civil and criminal international cartel cases. His experience extends to bench and jury trials in federal and state courts, complex federal multidistrict actions, Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice investigations, parens patriae cases brought by state attorneys general, qui tam litigation, and various regulatory proceedings in the United States and abroad.
Martin has been recognized for years as a leading antitrust litigator by numerous legal publications, including, among others, Chambers USA, Who's Who in American Law, and Legal 500 USA, with the publications reporting the following commentary about Martin: "an astute operator who always adds value to proceedings" and "looks to see what the overall issues are and determines how best to approach the representation of those interests, including common sense approaches to exit strategies where feasible."
"Given the current administration's focus on antitrust, we expect our clients will be faced with increased enforcement and regulatory changes," said Alan Mansfield, Chairman of the New York Litigation Practice. "With Scott as a member of our dynamic team, we are further positioned to assist our clients in navigating the new landscape."
"We are excited to see our practice grow with the addition of Scott and his diverse, multifaceted, litigation experience," said Richard A. Rosenbaum, President of Greenberg Traurig. "In the current and continuously-changing regulatory environment, we are able to further provide our clients with top-level experience and superior service."
Greenberg Traurig's Antitrust Litigation Practice Group has more than 30 attorneys who have trial experience both working with federal antitrust enforcement agencies and against them. Greenberg Traurig is currently litigating civil and criminal antitrust cases and investigations throughout the United States and Europe. The firm's international practice allows the attorneys to assemble experienced antitrust litigators to prosecute or defend and try a broad range of antitrust claims.
The Antitrust & Trade Regulation Group has wide-ranging experience in handling Hart-Scott-Rodino pre-merger filings; analyzing and defending mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures; advising on business conduct; defending companies that are investigated by the Federal Trade Commission, Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice or State Attorneys General; and litigating when necessary. The attorneys have worked for the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission or state attorneys general, so they are familiar with various governmental bodies' approaches to antitrust matters.
Greenberg Traurig's Litigation Practice comprises more than 500 attorneys, offering first-hand experience and wide-ranging resources to protect clients' interests in virtually every area of litigation. They work closely with in-house counsel to develop a strategy that best fits a litigation cost and proficiency model appropriate to the client's unique needs and individual business goals.
With the firm's national footprint, they are able to deliver their services and handle cases in multiple jurisdictions with the dedication, responsiveness and local knowledge of a boutique firm, backed by the breadth and depth of resources of one of the largest law firms in the United States.
Martin earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School and his A.B. from Stanford University.
