From CEP and Composable Services to Real-Time SOA Systems and SOA For Parallel Computing, this is a round-up of the many themes and topic of interest to architects, developers and managers featuring at the 14th International SOA World Conference & Expo being held November 19-21, 2008 at The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California.
Complex Event Processing - is key to gaining the SOA competitive edge, according to Coral8 Architect Dr Robert Hagmann, whose session "The SOA Competitive Edge: Capitalizing on Complex Event Processing" will examine using real-time event processing with SOA/Web services to create a dynamic, event-driven architecture. Another CEP session is being given by Michael Rowley of Active Endpoints: "Complex Event Processing in a Visual Orchestration System"
Composable Services - In his session Kyle Gabhart will explore one key principle of service orientation – the composable nature of services.
Facelifting SOA - is the topic at the heart of Yakov Fain's session about the pros and cons of using various techniques and technologies for the development of the front end for complex SOA distributed systems.
Fain, Yakov - will be delivering a session entitled: "Facelift Your SOA with Rich Internet Applications"
Gabhart, Kyle - from Web Age Solutions will be giving a session: "A Composable Service is a Good Service"
Governance - "New Perspectives on Governance, Management, and Industry Standards in the Enterprise" is the title of the session being given by Paul Lipton, Sr. Architect, IP & Standards, at CA.
Hagmann, Robert - His session "The SOA Competitive Edge: Capitalizing on Complex Event Processing" will examine using real-time event processing with SOA/Web services to create a dynamic, event-driven architecture.
Information Landscape - Ralph James, a Consultant with RSSBus, is giving a session presenting a model for flattening the complexity of various data sources into simple lists, which will be useful to architects, developers and managers making SOA design decisions.
James, Ralph - is giving a session, "Flattening the Information Landscape" in which he will look at the latest developments in Google, Yahoo, and Amazon services, and what they teach us about web service design.
Leonard, Patrick - CTO at Rogue Wave Software, Leonard will be giving a session entitled: "Beyond the Multi-core Dilemma: SOA For Parallel Computing"
Lipton, Paul - Sr. Architect, IP & Standards, at CA. He is giving a session called "New Perspectives on Governance, Management, and Industry Standards in the Enterprise"
Multiple Cores - In an instructional session, Patrick Leonard will educate the owners of key business applications on how to take advantage of multiple cores in their programs and ‘teach’ their key systems to execute tasks simultaneously to take advantage of the move to parallel computing.
Pardo-Castellote, Gerardo - will be giving a session entitled "Building Real-Time SOA Systems"
Parallel Computing - see Multiple Cores
PD-SOA - see Process-Driven SOA
Pone, Cornelius - Principal Analyst at Project Performance Corporation (PPC), Cornelius Pone will be giving a session entitled "Process Driven: Successful Service Oriented Architecture through Process" in which he will discuss Process Driven SOA.
Process-Driven SOA - Process Driven SOA starts from top down, identifying, prioritizing and then optimizing business process before any technical implementations are undertaken. PD-SOA will be fully discussed in "Process Driven: Successful Service Oriented Architecture through Process" - a session being given by Cornelius Pone, Principal Analyst at Project Performance Corporation (PPC).
Real-Time SOA Systems - Gerardo Pardo-Castellote, Ph.D. is the Chief Technology Officer at RTI, will be giving a session addressing the technologies and architectures available today to build real-time SOA systems. Service-oriented architectures are increasingly utilized to implement such high-performance and real-time systems.
REST - see REST versus WS-*
REST versus WS-* - While until now we have been talking about REST or WS-* it might be time to start thinking of REST and WS-*, says Jesus Rodriguez, Chief Architect of Tellago, who will be giving a session on this topic.
RIAs - see Rich Internet Applications
Rich Internet Applications - are at the heart of Yakov Fain's session about the pros and cons of using various techniques and technologies for the development of the front end for complex SOA distributed systems.
Rodriguez, Jesus - Chief Architect of Tellago, he will be giving a session called "Can We All Get Along? Using REST and WS-* in the Enterprise"
Service Composition - Kyle Gabhart's session will explore the subject of service composition and provide practical guidance regarding how to design and work with composable services.
SOA for Parallel Computing - In his session, Patrick Leonard will educate the owners of key business applications on how to take advantage of multiple cores in their programs and ‘teach’ their key systems to execute tasks simultaneously to take advantage of the move to parallel computing.
SOA Governance - see Governance
Standards - "New Perspectives on Governance, Management, and Industry Standards in the Enterprise" is the title of the session being given Paul Lipton, Sr. Architect, IP & Standards, at CA.
